This past week the LA Beta chapter of SigEp at Louisiana State University sent two outstanding rising sophomores as delegates to the 20th annual Frank J. Ruck Leadership Institute in Richmond, VA. Brothers TJ Singh and Brooks Bryan represented LSU as undergraduate members, joining three LA Beta alumni facilitators in Brad Golson, Seth Irby, and Andrew Leonpacher, the most facilitators from any one chapter.
TJ and Brooks were two of only 150 Ruck scholars selected from SigEp chapters across the nation to attend this intensive, wholistic conference. Established in 1999, Ruck features a curriculum based on the world-renowned book, The Leadership Challenge, co-authored by Brother Barry Posner, California- Santa Barbara ’70.
Featuring small group learning, team-oriented training session, symposiums from leading experts from around the nation, and a presentation from Mrs. Evelyn Piazza and Mrs. Ray Anne Gruver, Ruck focuses on teaching the few to impact the many by investing in rising leaders in chapters around the nation.
Brother Brooks Bryan is a rising sophomore from Baton Rouge, LA majoring in finance. Regarding his time at Ruck, Brooks said,
“Attending Ruck has taught me that there is more to a fraternity experience than four years. The people you meet and the skills you develop stick with you for the rest of your life. It really is amazing to see how this organization continues to change my life for the better giving me the edge of professionalism, leadership, and communication for my future.”
Brother TJ Singh is a rising sophomore from Shreveport, LA majoring in biology pre-med. When asked about his experience at Ruck, TJ said,
“I am so thankful to have been selected for the opportunity to attend Ruck, the friends I made there and the lessons we learned in just four days are going to last a lifetime. Our facilitators were incredibly knowledgeable and taught me skills and a different way of thinking that will not only make me a better SigEp, but a better man.”
Our chapter could not be more proud of our delegates and facilitators and look forward to seeing what impact TJ and Brooks have on SigEp and LSU’s campus in the future.
